The origin
At a young age I came to an Eagles concert by chance and after „Hotel California“ it was clear: I wanted to learn to play the guitar.
My sister practiced the piano and the violin in the room next door, so I was constantly surrounded by the music of the old masters of classical, romantic and baroque music.

The Metal
My musical journey to metal began as a listener somewhere between the gateway drugs of the to that time ubiquitous Scorpions and Metallica and the good stuff of Iced Earth, Rage and Stratovarius.
This instilled in me a taste for the right mix of melody, harmony and heaviness.
This led me as a teenager to the formation of my first band, which in 1998 became the band „Exotherm“, that created a modern mixture of Heavy, Power and Thrash Metal.

The tech
Ideas were still recorded on cassette tapes here, so recording the first Exotherm album at my guitar teacher’s house with an 8-track hard disk recorder was first a shock and eventually the first push in the direction of music production and sound engineering. Around that time it became possible for normal-mortals to make music at home on the PC at any time of the day without taking out a loan or sounding out the neighborhood, thanks to acceptable amp simulations and better mass-market computers. From then on, I got involved with DAWs and the technical side of music making.

The way „down
My side project „Pointers Head“ was about low tuned heavy rock with catchy tune guarantee from 2002 to 2004. This is where I had my first contact with Dropped C Tuning. This is the guitar tuning I like to play the most since then, because it delivers the best mix of definition and punch for me.
After the end of Exotherm in 2011, I founded the band „Spawn of Damnation“ with my meanwhile best buddy. This was melodic death metal of the catchy kind. In addition to one of the guitars I was also allowed to take the role of the producer.
At the end of 2016 my job took me to the Black Forest and of course I wanted a band with the right mixture of melody, harmony and heaviness again. Just at this time founding member Sebastian Kunze had to leave due to time constraints and so I found Timeless Rage in early 2017 and slid in on lead guitar and DAW.

The own
My favorite songs from Timeless Rage are:
Untold„, because it combines old and new so well.
Ocean Twilight„, because the song has strong contrasts and a nice narrative character

The others
I like to listen to Arch Enemy, Avantasia, Omnium Gatherum, Trivium, Unearth, Rage, The Haunted, Nevermore, Allen/Lande, Stratovarius, The Black Dahlia Murder… but it may also be a symphony or organ concert sometimes.
